Maintenance (Part 1)

When I weighed myself and realized that I’ve gone from 272 down to 258 and I’m still dropping, it has given me every reason to continue. Free Day? Yep, you get 1 per week and I try to make the most of it. Fast Day? Yep, you have to have 1 of those per week as well and I try to make it every Monday. But really, it’s a clear fluids day where anything from week 1 is still allowed. Going forward, I’m ready to add actual, real daily exercise but I’m not quite ready for the 300 diet/exercise or anything: Beginner 300 WorkoutObviously the 300 is an advanced workout. Unless you are already in great shape, start with an easier, beginner workout routine. Go for 2-3 sets starting out, and add a set each week. Get up to 4-5 sets, and you’re ready to move on to the 300 workout. You may also want to do some abs exercise, as well. Beginner 300 Workout 15 body-weight rows 25 body-weight squats 15 push-ups 50 jumping jacks 20 mountain climbers 10 close grip push-ups 15 body-weight rows Gerard Butler 300 DietThe Gerard Butler 300 diet consisted of what the typical Spartan Diet of the day would have been. They wanted the actors to look like the real thing. By barely eating enough for recovery, they gained well-fined abs and musculature. The...

Solidarity-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y!!! (Day 15)

Yeah, that’s one “y” for every day I consumed a liquefied diet. Also doesn’t hurt that it’s part of my favorite Airplane! movie montage: Nothing beats Robert Stack taking down a string of zealots! But that’s what I had to do: set up the days and knock them down as they came at me. And going forward it’s all about the weapons you have at your disposal. Which sounds pretty violent but really, you kind of have to brace yourself for a war. I used divided paper plates for tonight. But going forward I know it’s going to be a lot tougher. Here’s a good example of helpful tool: Microwave Divided Plates With Vented Lids The major difference is that, unlike the picture, you are keeping that salmon filet in one of the smaller containers and then veggie goes in the bigger slot. Grains or fruit or alternate veggie or whatever really can go in the remaining, SMALL, compartment. And that’s it folks. I can tell you, I am feeling full after a few bites and it makes a huge difference. But you have to keep in mind that this process is about changing the entire approach to food so that impulse eating is removed from the occasion. Next up, we’ll get into the psychology. Really, it’s just my own take on thinking about food but psychology sounds more...

Check Your Head (Day 14)

Awe Ma, your just jealous, its the Beastie Boys… Yeah, it’s time to check yourself before you wreck yourself. That’s the trick because I’m about to transition back to solids and I know I’m going to feel the urge to put away the all the food I’ve been denying myself. And I’ve felt it tonight more than ever. For the big day, I’m going liquid for breakfast and lunch but then solids for dinner. For tonight it’s an Orange Julius from Orange Julius. What can I say, it’s a...

The Costco Diet (Day 12)

The first week, it was critical to keep my head in the game so I posted everyday but I’m slowing down to 3 times within this final week of liquids. This is primarily due to the ease with which this week has progressed. But I couldn’t have done it without the bulk food smorgasbord that is Costco. They have an amazing selection of Oragnic food that lent itself to easy preparation: 1 – Case, Tomato and Red Bell Pepper boxed soup. 1 – Bag, Vegetable Based Organic Protein Powder 1 – Bag, Fruit Based Organic Protein Powder 1 – Case, Lentil and Lentil Vegetable Canned Soup (convenient pull tab top) 1 – Case, Organic Yogurt (in easy open squeeze tubes) 1 – Bag, frozen smoothie mix fruit 1 – Bag, fresh spinach (placed in freezer for use in smoothies). 3 – Pack, orange juice (for smoothies) 2 – Pack, C4 energy additive (for smoothies) 1 – Case, organic apple sauce (also in squeeze packs). The soups are just boiled and then blended, if necessary and then poured into a thermal bottle (also from Costco). Remaining items on the list are used in smoothies or can be used directly out of the container, without refrigeration. Again, for me, convenience is everything in this game because I don’t have a lot time (really, I don’t want to take the time) for...
